My Approach
Most of my clients come to me because they have reached some sort of critical breaking point in their lives — they’ve been trying to hold it together and be the best mother/partner/daughter/sister/friend/etc. that they can be, but their grip is slowly slipping and they’re experiencing considerable stress and emotional pain.
It’s time to take care of you.
I provide a compassionate and warm approach, free of any judgment or criticism. Therapy should be a place for you to let it all out, so it’s crucial that you feel safe and supported when we talk. I’ll give special attention to understanding your unique history, values, and needs. I’ll offer different perspectives that will bring clarity to the problems you’re facing and I’ll assist you in developing tools that address both your short- and long-term needs. Not only will we discuss practical skills for getting you out of survival mode, we’ll identify the things that bring you joy and purpose in life — so you’ll be more than “just OK,” you’ll be living a life that is full of vitality and meaning.
My Background
I completed my undergraduate education at the University of Illinois at Chicago. I then attended Wichita State University where I earned both my Masters and Doctorate degrees in Clinical Psychology. After graduating, I worked at Wichita State University’s Counseling and Prevention Services. There, I provided counseling to college students and also served as the department’s Director of Training.
For a long time, I believed that university counseling and training was what I would do for the rest of my life. However, I often felt like there was something missing — I just couldn’t quite figure out what it was. Then, in 2020, after a long and emotionally painful journey with infertility, I became a mom via IVF. As happy as I was to welcome this new baby into my life, I found myself overwhelmed by the transition into motherhood and my mental health was impacted as a result. With time and a lot of self work, I was able to find myself again.
Through my experience, I realized that helping women navigate the often difficult journey to and through parenthood is something I’m called to do. So, I set out to do just that. However, it was important to me that if I was going to shift into this type of work, that I received the proper education and training to do. Consequently, I joined Postpartum Support International (PSI) and the American Society for Reproductive Medicine (ASRM) and sought out extensive training in the areas of infertility, loss, and postpartum mood issues. Most recently, I completed a year-long mentorship program through ASRM’s Mental Health Professionals Group.
I’ve now been in private practice since 2021 and get to help amazing women just like yourself figure out how to overcome their pain and manage life’s biggest challenges.
